Closing the Bones

Closing the bones is an ancient Mayan tradition where the mothers abdomen is anointed and massaged and her hips are closed by sifting and then binding in a rebozo.

Why do we close the bones?

Once a baby is born, the mothers hips are left open, both physically and spiritually. Closing her bones allows her to let go and begin her postpartum journey and her fourth trimester.

What can you expect?

You can expect to enter a beautiful and calm room, dimly lit with candles, essential oils burning and soft music playing. I will burn sage (smudging) to rid of any negativity and clear the space before you lay on some blankets. The mothers hips are gently rocked, her abdomen is massaged with essential oils and her hips and shoulders are wrapped. I finish by gently stretching the spine, massaging the hands, soaking the feet and making you a cup of tea.

How long does it last and how much does it cost?

A 'closing the bones' session lasts approximately 1 hour and costs £40.
